Radiance Obscurity is a body of work created for my undergraduate thesis project at Bard College in New York. Using paper cut outs and illuminated fabric light boxes, I played with illusion, light, shadow, and blurring to tell stories. Radiance Obscurity imagines a matriarchal myth system drawing on biblical and mythological imagery, folk music and fairytales. The shadow boxes were accompanied by a projected hand-drawn animation, as well as a shadow puppet show with live music and singing.
